17042011 Merlion Hotel

The last day in Singapore was spent heading to the Guanyin temple early in the morning after breakfast. A few years back a Singaporean friend had brought me here before, so I thought it would be nice to visit it again.

Plus it was a weekend, so there were lots of people outside telling fortunes. Came across this Indian lady who uses the bird to pick a card if you want your fortune told. The last time I saw a fortune teller like this one was somewhere along the streets of Klang many years back.

After that it was a trip to see the Merlion. My Singaporean friends were telling me about how it has been made into a hotel, so they strongly insist that I should go have a look at it. As it was terribly hot and sunny, took the alternative route which was through the hotel to keep out of the sun as much as we could.

There was already a queue outside the ‘hotel’ when we got there. After getting into line, the staffs gave us bright orange umbrellas to help temporary ward off the sunrays while we waited to be allowed in.

It was somewhat interesting to see the Merlion upclose compared to the image where it’s forever sprouting water from its mouth.

And that, a bathroom with a million dollar view.
